The lost message

Ups and downs. Troughs and crests. Highs and lows are part of everyone’s graph. But, when the curve takes a down turn, one tends to search for old friends, ex-colleagues and acquaintances for some assistance or advice. Mails and messages come handy to avoid a conversation yet the purpose gets solved.
The send button for such mails or messages has a unique power. It makes you feel lighter from inside and turns the outside world brighter. You throw a challenge to your patience and wait for a while. Once the gestation period is over, you scroll your mail or message inbox; not once but for several times. Just to be sure that you don’t miss the mail. You scan the inbox, trash the advertisers’ mails, yet you fail to locate those mails and messages. Suddenly, you crumble under the weight of rejection, avoidance and denial.
Desperately, you touch the call button, the phone rings for once and a familiar voice speaks from the other end,”the number you are dialing is currently busy.” You are back to your senses.  Your heart throbs faster and jaws get stiffer. A few swear words and a vouch to never to meet the person again make you feel better. You slip the phone inside your pocket and walk away to look for other way outs.

Nothing seems to be constant; be it circumstances or attitude. You come across those mail-ids and phone numbers again, but this time, in person. You shake hands and exchange greetings. You pretend, as if you have never contacted them and they follow the same.
