Are we free of bugs?

This is obnoxious. This is repulsive. This is hideous. The sight of a cockroach in a cupboard, crickets in a store room, or bed bugs beneath a mattress.  But these creepy crawly creatures often make their castles inside our homes. They may be potently dangerous but their sights fill us with disgust, the most.

We turn every object of a home to chase them away. We sweep. We swab.  We stomp. We spray every corner, crack and fold to keep them at bay. That’s obvious. That’s natural because we all wish to have bugs free homes.

We almost do the same exercise to keep our computers, laptops and tablets bug free. We install sophisticated programs to debug our machines. After all, when machines get infested by viruses, life comes to a standstill.

But, are we really free from bugs?  What about the bugs inside us? There are zillions of them, swarming in our thoughts. They invade; they conquer and enslave us. These seemingly harmless bugs create havoc in our lives, families, and societies.

Probably, the Fear bug is the one with whom we meet when we are crawling on floors. Unmindfully, elders introduce us with the bug for their selfish gains. It often comes handy for seniors when they want to keep children away from the things which they don’t approve. As the time goes by, it takes the shape of a monster within us and its tentacles grow stronger and their grip becomes harder on us.

It eats out our wings of imagination and leaves us to crawl on an unimaginative plain. That’s not all, it melts the steel nerves and sucks sanity from perfectly normal beings.

The fear bug has many offspring and they multiply as fast as their mother. The Anger, the Disillusionment, the Jealousy, the Hatred, the Arrogance are some its progenies. They are no less cancerous than their parent and no pills or potions can ward them off. They dwell, they prosper, they propagate in various layers of our consciousness.

So next time we do dusting, let’s spray some new thoughts to clean up our conscious too.
